A special batik painting for me. It came out of many days of still life drawing, the vase was lit with a powerful light which threw these interesting shadows on the wall. The vase in the batik was painted by Lydia Corbett the famous model of Picasso (the portrait of a young women with a pony tail) who now works as an artists in Devon. I collect vases and this is one of my favourites, it has a women’s head on one side and a young man’s head on the other side. Lydia has painted on to a piece of ceramic drainage pipe in gouache, it is an enigmatic vase.
