Batik is the ancient oriental technique of using hot wax as a resist to textile dyes. This traditional technique is then applied to various fabrics such as cotton or silk. When doing  batik Sarah specialises in using hemp materials and hand made Japanese papers with a contemporary painterly style to produce batik paintings distinctly different to traditional batik work.
